Overstrand Municipality appeals to residents to be responsible and to adhere to the guidelines before placing waste outside for removal on scheduled days.

Everyone will need to do their part in taking precautions and follow good hygiene principles to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Please stay home (if you can) and only go out for food and medicine and medical support when it is really needed.

Protect yourselves from becoming infected but also your friends and neighbours.

Important guidelines regarding the proper handling and storage of domestic waste generated by all positively identified COVID-19 residents.

The Moffat Hall in Mount Pleasant has been identified as venue where the homeless will be housed during lockdown in a bid to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Overstrand Municipality’s law enforcement officers will fetch homeless people from the Overstrand area  and take them to the Moffat hall.

Please do not transport homeless people yourself, rather phone 028 313 8996 with a request to pick them up with time and location where person was last seen.

We appeal to the community not to take food directly to the Moffat Hall.

All food should be dropped off in the marked trolleys at food stores when going shopping at food stores.

At a meeting of the Overstrand Municipal Council held on 25 March 2020, Council resolved that businesses and residential customers who find themselves in financial stress as a result of the lockdown and cannot pay their accounts due for March 2020 and/or April 2020, may enter into an extended term of payment agreement.

Businesses who find themselves under financial stress and cannot pay their accounts due for March 2020 and April 2020, may enter into an extended term of payment agreement in terms of the Overstrand Customer Care, Credit Control and Debt Collection Policy in order for their payments to be done over a period of 6 months without the payment of a deposit.

South Africa now has over 1 300 confirmed cases of coronavirus with more than 310 in the Western Cape and 7 in the Overberg.

Let's keep a safe distance from others if you must go out to limit the spread of COVID-19. Practice good hygiene by washing your hands regularly, avoid shaking hands with others and throw away used tissues.
