The Special Rating Area for Hermanus (HSRA) has been approved by the Overstrand Council on Wednesday 25 March 2020.

Hermanus Special Special Rating Area (KSRA) will include all properties in the area within the boundaries of 17th Avenue in Voëlklip in the east up to Swartdam Road in the west, with Still Street as the southern border and Fernkloof Nature Reserve as the northern border.

Suburbs included in the HSRA are Westcliff, Westdene, Industria, Northcliff, the Central Business District (CBD), Eastcliff, Hermanus Heights, Fernkloof, Kwaaiwater and Voëlklip.

3 141 of the 5 525 or 56.85% rateable property owners gave their consent for the HSRA.

The municipal offices (including libraries) in all towns will close from 16:30 on Thursday 26 March 2020 until 08:00 17 April 2020.

Essential services such as traffic management, law enforcement, the provision of water, refuse collection, sewerage and electricity will continue to run as per normal.

Refuse removal will continue as per normal collection schedule for the Greater Hermanus and Greater Gansbaai administrations.

In the Hangklip-Kleinmond area, refuse will be collected as follows:

• Betty's Bay residents: Wednesdays 1, 8 & 15 April
• Pringle Bay residents: Thursdays 2, 9 & 16 April

The 2020/2021 draft Budget and draft IDP review and proposed amendment for Overstrand Municipality was tabled yesterday, 25 March 2020, by Executive Mayor Dudley Coetzee and is available to the local community for comment and input.

Due to the nationwide lockdown, residents can no longer peruse copies of the documents at the offices of the area managers or libraries. The draft Budget and draft IPD roadshows have also been cancelled.

The documents are on Overstrand Municipality’s website (www.overstrand.gov.za, click on strategic documents).

Other documents also tabled at Council on 25 March 2020 are available for public comment, including the draft amended Spatial Development Framework (SDF) (2020),

The public comment period for the draft IDP review and proposed amendments for 2020/21, draft amended Spatial Development Framework (SDF), draft Integrated Waste Management Plan and draft budget 2020/21 is available for public comment until 28 April 2020.
