Overstrand Municipality has appointed Mr Dean O’Neill as the new Municipal Manager for Overstrand.
O’Neill is the current Municipal Manager of Cape Agulhas Municipality and has many years’ of experience in local government.
His appointment will be effective from 1 November 2020 when current Overstrand Municipal Manager, Coenie Groenewald, reaches retirement age in October and his fixed term contract of employment terminates on 31 October 2020.
A total of 28 applications (one was late) were received for the position and three candidates were, after proper screening, invited to attend the evaluation and interview sessions for the post. One candidate withdrew from the interview session.

The South African government has officially gazetted regulations for the advanced lockdown level 3 protocols on 19 June 2020.
Moving to Level 3 advanced this week has seen businesses such as hairdressing and beauty services re-opening and people in the personal care services (formal and informal) are getting back to work; which is great for our Overstrand community.
The Hermanus Traffic Department on the corner of Short & Mussel Street, Hermanus, was temporarily closed today for deep cleaning of the facility after a municipal staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
All traffic related transactions in Hermanus have been suspended for today (19 June) and tomorrow (20 June). The Hermanus Traffic Department will reopen at 08:00 on Monday 22 June 2020.
We would like to reassure the members of the public who visited the offices of the traffic department earlier in the week that they would not have come in contact with the staff member who has tested positive for COVID-19.
