Western Cape Premier Alan Winde delivers his 2022 State of the Province Address (SOPA) in Velddrif on the West Coast later this morning.

The public viewing (live streaming) will be held at the following venues throughout the Overstrand on Tuesday, 15 February 2022 from 10:45:

•    Hermanus Municipal Auditorium
•    Gansbaai Municipal Council Chambers
•    Kleinmond Library

After more information has come to light, it is now evident that the Platannas are migrating from the Vermont Salt Pan in a South Easterly direction towards the Onrus River.

Around 1 000 rescued Platannas have already been released at a site along Peterson Street on the banks of the Onrus River.

Liezl de Villiers, senior manager of the Overstrand Environmental Management Services (EMS) Department, would like to thank her team, as well as Whale Coast Conservation and many volunteers from Onrus and Vermont for their assistance thus far.

A series of Public Ward Committee meetings will kick off on 14 February 2022, giving residents in the Overstrand the opportunity to voice concerns or ask questions about municipal services in their neighbourhood.

The draft 2022/23 IDP (Integrated Development Plan Process) to review ward priorities will also be discussed.

The ward committee meetings are open to the public.

Wards 4, 8 and 14 will meet on 14 February; Wards 5, 10, 11 and 13 will meet on 15 February; Wards 2, 3 and 6 will meet on 16 February and Wards 1, 7, 9 and 12 will meet on 17 February.

Covid-19 protocols will be applied at the venues.

Development in the Overstrand has over the past years gone through an enormous growth spurt. As one of the top municipalities in South Africa, set within the natural beauty of this area, it is clear why we are a popular destination of choice.

With growth comes growing pains and we need to address some of the issues such as limiting impact on the environment with allowing selective development and growth.

A key priority in moving forward is to ensure we have the necessary sensitivity towards the environment and workable infrastructure in support of development.

•    Motor Vehicle Registrations (Hermanus – Kleinmond – Gansbaai)
•    Fines Section / Court Section
•    Drivers Licence Testing Centre (DLTC)
•    Vehicle Testing Station (VTS)
