Following various enquiries and complaints about the monthly municipal accounts, with regard to water consumption, or zero consumption invoiced on the accounts, the Overstrand Municipality would like to share the following information:

1) METER READINGS
The Municipality, since August 2021, had several meter readings challenges but we can confirm that this has improved significantly, and we trust it will be solved by 31 March 2022. The areas still posing a challenge are meters inaccessible to read, or in areas where plots/properties are significantly overgrown. There should thus be only the minimum number of water meters accross the whole of the Overstrand area that are still investigated in this regard.

Overstrand Municipality is objecting to Eskom’s application for a 20,5% tariff increase in the 2022/2023 financial year.

Eskom’s proposed increases of 20.5%, 15.07% and 10% for the next three years are going to have a detrimental impact on the economy given that electricity underpins a number of key sectors.

An increase in line with the consumer price index (CPI) of 5.5% would have been a more reasonable tariff increase for Eskom.

Let's sign the petition; please share or send it to your friends and family.

Say no to Eskom’s proposed price increase by visiting the municipal website, www.overstrand.gov.za, click on Media, scroll down to Surveys and click on Eskom

Every year, 2 February is celebrated as World Wetlands Day to create awareness about wetlands.

This day marks the anniversary of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, which was adopted as an international treaty in 1971.

Wetlands are a fine example of how Earth has it all sorted for us - but it is up to us now to take care of them.

We urge residents of the Overstrand to spread awareness about the importance of our wetlands and natural resources. It is important to conserve our wetlands not just for ourselves but our future generations.

Theme 2022: Wetlands Action for People and Nature.
