Anyone with a library card can enjoy free access to the catalogue available through the Western Cape Library Service.

Non-members who want to access the e-resources, must first join their local library and will be able to make use of the mobile service after five working days.

The Libby App allows patrons to enjoy their books on several mobile devices or desktop computers.

All it takes is installing Overdrive’s Libby App on your smart device (overdrive.com/apps/libby/) and follow the instructions to borrow the title you want.

Just log into Libby using your library credentials.

The envisaged public meetings regarding abovementioned items will commence on 20 April 2022 and detail will be communicated.

Senior Managers responsible for respective decentralised areas must ensure the necessary logistical arrangements regarding venues and communication with local Ward Committees and Councillors. loud hailing (where necessary) is also required for public meetings.

First Thursdays give the residents of Overstrand a platform to be heard by Mayor Annelie Rabie and her Mayoral Committee Members, as well as the Municipal Manager, Dean O'Neill, and all the Directors - whether you want to pitch an idea, or raise issues that you are encountering.

No appointment is needed as the sessions will be conducted on a first come, first serve basis. Sessions are kept brief in order to accommodate as many people as possible.

In addition to the First Thursdays initiative, Premier Alan Winde will visit the Overstrand on 9 May for a Cabinet Outreach

During crime prevention and road policing patrols on 8 April 2022, Overstrand Municipality's K9 and Task Team continue to reap positive results.

The team was patrolling the R43 near the Vermont traffic lights when they noticed a suspicious looking bakkie driving in the direction of Hermanus. The same bakkie was recognised during a previous operation; prompting them to stop and search it.

They discovered 11 bags of dagga hidden in a bag. The female driver was arrested and taken to Hermanus SAPS where a case docket was opened.

In another unrelated incident, unit members spotted a young adult male with school clothes on, standing idling near Ghost Town in Mount Pleasant.
