When dogs are taken off their owner's property, they must be in control by a person and restrained by a leash.

It is against the Municipality’s by-law to have dogs off-leash in any street or public place. Section 6(2) and (3) of this by-law stipulate that "No person may or cause to be allowed any dog to be in a public place unless it is kept on a leash.”

Spot fines might be issued to people who transgress the law. Dogs that are off-leash do not only pose a problem to people using public facilities, it is also dangerous should someone get attacked and hurt in the process.

Residents who walk their dogs must have bags with them to pick up dog droppings.
