Overstrand Municipality would like to advise its residents that monthly accounts were only processed on 30 June in accordance with the financial year end procedures.

As a result, the accounts will only be sent out this week.

Overstrand Municipality would like to apologise to all its customers  who have been affected by these delays and thank them for their understanding and co-operation.

Rugby players from Kleinmond, Hawston, Mount Pleasant Atlantics, Stanford Universals, the Hemel-en-Aaarde Black Birds and Gansbaai’s Black Leaves will join forces to participate in the Boland Rugby Union’s regional club rugby tournament challenge.

They will represent the Overstrand in a knockout competition where 13 clubs will compete for the regional challenge title.

The first games will take place on 24 September 2022 in Hermanus. The SABC has confirmed it will broadcast some matches.

“Competitions like this provides a marvellous platform to bring communities together,“ says Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie.

To that end, Ward 8 Councillor Arnie Africa and the Mayoral Committee member of Management Services, thanked the President of the Boland Rugby Union, Bennie van Rooy, and his delegation for this initiative and their dedication to get rugby going again after lockdown.

This is to remind the residents of Overstrand that Mayor Annelie Rabie and her team will continue their First Thursday’s initiative in Hermanus on 7 July 2022 from 17:00 - 19:00 in the Overstrand Municipal Banqueting Hall.

You are encouraged to attend to discuss your challenges or great ideas.

No appointments are required, and the public will be seen on a first come, first served basis.

 

Sidewalks, its appearance, and its maintenance, play an important role in enhancing the value of property and improving the aesthetics of homes.

We appreciate the enthusiasm with which home owners are assisting to beautify our neighbourhoods by sprucing up their sidewalks. But please read the municipal by-laws and policy on sidewalk encroachments to ensure your sidewalk is traffic friendly and ‘legal’.

Home owners need to ensure that gardens do not spill on to the road reserve to such an extent that it is virtually impossible for any pedestrian to move without having to step into the road and, by inference, into traffic.

A road reserve is the area parallel to the adjacent erven including the road itself.

Overstrand Municipality invites all interested parties and individuals to give input on the Investment Incentives Policy.

The closing date for comments is 21 July 2022.

The Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) responsible for Infrastructure and Investment, Councillor Clinton Lerm, expressed confidence that the draft policy will receive positive comments from residents and role players.

We believe that in the long term, the right kind of investment will create the platform for sustainable growth of the Overstrand Municipal area, but also contribute to a safe and caring Overstrand Municipality.
