Overstrand Municipality’s Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie, was interviewed by China Global Television Network (CGTN) this week. Interest in the region was sparked by a visit from the network’s South African correspondent, Julie Scheier, in 2021. The impact on the hospitality sector was obvious then and a follow-up was required to see how the Overstrand has managed recovery. Another subject covered during the interview related to the trend of digital nomads who prefer to stay in the Overstrand rather than in big cities.
CGTN made use of the time in the Overstrand to investigate a further story relating to the impact of the changing economy on property prices. Mayor Rabie used the opportunity to announce the Overstrand Municipality’s Investment Conference that will be hosted on 23 and 24 June 2022 and said, “online registrations for this event is open and investors are invited to attend”.
Overstrand Municipality will be hosting a two-day conference for potential investors from 23-24 June 2022 in Hermanus.
During the investment conference, several projects will be showcased and discussed.
Some of the earmarked projects are a mixture of industries ranging from potential abalone farms, a desalination plant, retirement villages, universities, restaurants, camp sites, small scale industrial erven, medical facilities and more.

Overstrand Municipality has the following investment opportunities:
1. Kleinmond Caravan Park – Erf 5462 Kleinmond
Description:
The Property is situated on the Eastern side of Kleinmond with easy access to the beach. It is currently utilised as a public caravan park and falls within the Environmental Overlay Zone. The Overstrand Zoning Scheme applies for any added footprint and thus any additional related uses may be applied for such as, inter alia, a restaurant, indoor recreational facilitates and outdoor recreational facilitates, which could be granted with the Municipality’s prior written consent.
Overstrand comprising of towns such as Hermanus, Gansbaai, Kleinmond and Betty`s Bay one doesn’t have to look too far to understand that these settlements are nested in some of the most picturesque settings in the world.
With abundant internationally recognised nature reserves such as the Kogelberg Biosphere, the Walker Bay Sanctuary and Fernkloof Nature Reserve, it is clear that this environment echoes sustainability.
