Mayor Annelie Rabie and her team will continue the First Thursday’s initiative in Hermanus on 6 April 2023.

Join them in the Hermanus Municipal Banqueting Hall from 17:00 - 19:00.

It is a golden opportunity for residents to engage with both the political and administrative leadership of the municipality and residents are encouraged to attend the event.

It is open to everyone and no appointments are required.

Several tenders are currently open and are being advertised on the municipal website:

• Appointment of a Professional Consultant to Conduct Noise Impact Assessments As and When Needed (closing date of the tender is on 26 April 2023)
• Baboon Management Program ((closing date of the tender is on 26 April 2023)
• Repair and Maintenance of Irrigation Systems (closing date of the tender is on 21 April 2023)
• Appointment of Panel of Attorneys for the Rendering of Legal Services ((closing date of the tender is on 14 April 2023)
• Supply, Installation, Monitoring and Armed Response of Alarm Systems and CCTV Camera Call Outs (closing date of the tender is on 14 April 2023)

A controlled burn on 80 hectares of Blessberg in Betty’s Bay, is planned for the first week of April, weather depending.

This burn will be both a fuel load reduction and ecological burn and will be first of the controlled burns for the 2023 burn season.

Overstrand Municipality along with Cape Nature, Overberg District Municipality and Greater Overberg Fire Protection Association (goFPA) will conduct the burn. They will also do search and rescue operations in the days leading up to the burn to remove tortoises, chameleons and other animals out of harm’s way.

The Municipality asks members of the pubic to please avoid this area during the burn.
