The state of dam levels supplying Overstrand at mid-May 2023:

Buffelsrivier - 100.00%
Kraaibosch - 92.0%
Pearly Beach - 40% (in February this year it was 25%)
Koekemoer at Pearly Beach - 60% (in February this year it was 70%)
De Bos - 98.99% (in May 2022 it was 81.73%)

 

Overstrand Municipality's final budget and IDP will be tabled to Council for adoption on 31 May 2023, and implemented with effect from 1 July.

Municipal account holders are reminded that the annual increase in rates and tariffs, will reflect on their July accounts, which are payable by 20 August.

This is just a reminder to residents to ensure that they first determine if the increased account is not as result of annual increases before making enquiries.

 

 

Overstrand Traffic Services in Hermanus is open on Saturday, 20 May 2023 from 08:30 to 12:00, for the following services:

• Renewal of a motor vehicle license
• Motor vehicle registration
• Roadworthy testing
• Car license renewals
• Learner's and driver's license bookings
• Public driving permits:

Open during the week if there is no load shedding:

The traffic offices in Hermanus will be open Mondays - Fridays from 08:00 - 15:15 and alternative Saturdays from 08:30 until 12:00.

Overstrand’s property valuation objections to be finalised in June

Property owners who objected to the new valuations of their properties will receive the outcome of their objections by 19 June 2023.

The objection period closed on 3 April, and altogether 1 890 objections were handed over to valuator that compiled the new 2023/24 General Valuation Roll on behalf of Overstrand Municipality.

The valuers will communicate the outcome of objections directly to the property owners (objectors) before the end of June.

The Civic Precinct of the Central Business District (CBD) of Hermanus is set for rapid development in the next year, once funding has been secured.

The Civic Precinct forms part of Phase 2 of the Hermanus CBD Revitalisation and Regeneration and includes the civic and local authority land uses around the traffic circle intersection of Main Road (R43) and include the magistrate’s court, the police station, library, municipal offices and public transport and parking facilities. Royal, Church, Magnolia and Patterson Streets as well as Harmony Avenue will be affected.

The CBD Regeneration Framework was approved and adopted as a sectoral plan of the Spatial Development Framework (SDF) by Overstrand Municipality in 2016.

The plan makes provision for the regeneration of the CBD through six separate projects, of which the first project - the High Street development - has been completed.
