Join the Betty’s Bay Library and the NSRI for a reading of the Brave Turtle book at the Betty’s Bay Library, on Friday 7 July 2023 at 10:30.

The Brave Turtle is an illustrated children's chapter book of family, bravery, and with a great respect for our country's wild waters.

“Late one night, Sam rolls off her bed and splash! Her entire room has flooded! Not just her room, but the whole house is filling up with water as the world floods outside. Confused and cold, Sam is rescued by a wise, little turtle called Neville, who takes her along the beautiful underwater highway, teaching her the ways of this watery world”.

Please act responsibly and make use of the Transfer Stations and Waste drop-off facilities to avoid illegal dumping.

Illegal dumping is anything you throw away in a place where it does not belong. Know this: If you throw your waste and/or junk just anywhere, it will eventually become your problem in some way or another

The indaba will take place on 6 & 7 September 2023 at the Municipal Auditorium in Hermanus.

This will be a great opportunity to draft a new tourism strategy for the Overstrand and engage the different sectors.

Please save the date.

Overstrand Executive Mayor, Dr Annelie Rabie and relevant Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMC’s) as well as the councillors for wards 9 and 10, had a productive meeting with stakeholders in Kleinmond today, 6 June 2023, regarding Overhills

Agreement was reached on the way forward that included the arrangement of a community meeting in Overhills, the establishment of a representative committee as well as a survey of all the structures on the site. Other issues of concern were the effectiveness of the land invasion unit and housing department and also the operating procedures for logging complaints on illegal building activities.

It was also proposed that the Municipality appoints a mediator to facilitate the dialogue between the parties to ensure transparency and fairness.
