South Africa has seen a noticeable increase in the numbers of coronavirus cases over the past couple of months.
On 25 November 2020, during a digicon on the COVID pandemic, Western Cape Premier Alan Winde, confirmed that the Western Cape is following the rest of the country when it comes to seeing coronavirus numbers rise and raised his concern on the steep climb in increase of cases.
He asked the public to seriously think of postponing year- end functions and gatherings or events to try and curb a second wave hitting us in December and drain valuable resources.
Premier Winde mentioned that the number of infections in the Garden Route is now higher than during the peak and that the City of Cape Town is not far behind, with increasing cases in the Winelands District.
