With effect from 1 July 2023, Overstrand residents receive municipal accounts by e-mail or SMS.

Ratepayers who do not have an e-mail address, can get their municipal account statement via SMS notification.

To activate the SMS service, visit your closest municipal rates hall to update your details. Remember to include your account number when requesting this service.

Only one cell phone number per household/account will be accommodated.

SMS municipal account messages will also contain a link on which you must click to display your account if your phone has this function.

All households in baboon problem areas must have an animal proof bin for domestic waste.

A baboon proof bin doesn’t have to be a wheelie bin but some people have been able to convert their bin for less than R250.

Baboon-resistant 240-litre Wheelie bins, with locks, can be purchased at the municipal offices and it will be delivered to your home. Bins cost R1 636 (the price is inclusive of VAT and is valid 1 July 2023 - 30 June 2024).

Alternatively, bins can be bought at any hardware store and baboon proof locks can be fitted, at an additional charge, on your existing bin.

Please note that all public meetings/indigent roadshows scheduled to be held from 18:00 for the next two weeks have been suspended until further notice due to loadshedding.

The engagements with the finance staff as scheduled during office hours on weekdays and Saturdays for indigent applications and account enquiries will however proceed as planned.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause but the decision is warranted to ensure the safety of our residents, councillors and staff.

Onrus Beach is one of the most popular beaches and surfing spots in Hermanus. As a Blue Flag beach during the December/January holiday season, it confirms that Onrus is a holiday destination of international standard.

Overstrand Municipality consistently improves its facilities and the upgrading of the aging ablution block at the Onrus Beach is well under way.

The upgrading will be completed in two phases over two years.

Phase 1 improvements, which are scheduled to be completed before the spring/summer season starts, include refurbishing the toilets, urinals, and hand washbasins. Thus, fully functional facilities will be available at the aforementioned time.
