The 'no swimming' advisory for the Onrus lagoon has been lifted on Friday, 7 January 2022.

According to the Overberg District Municipality's Health Department, who is responsible for recreational water quality of estuaries, the warning signs can be removed as they are satisfied that the water is within the acceptable range for public recreational use.

The warning signage was put up on 3 January 2022 after an electrical fault occurred on the Onrus sewerage pump station resulting in a spillage.

 

 

The Gansbaai Administration's Building Department is closed until further notice due to COVID-19 related matters such as exposure or illness.

The situation will be reviewed on a daily basis and the public will be updated accordingly.

Hermanus Library has made available a memorial book to members of the public for the late Emeritus Archbishop Desmond Tutu who passed away on Sunday, at the age of 90.

Residents and visitors are invited to express their condolences and tributes to the Arch between 08:00 - 13:00 today and tomorrow (Friday 31 December 2021).
