Applications for the Chrysalis Academy three-month training course is currently open until 30 November 2022.
The academy facilitates two males and one female course per year. Female applications will only start in July.
For the January 2023 intake, young men, who want to contribute to society by positively changing their lifestyle, should apply.
The Overstrand Municipality launched an online Job Application Portal (JAP) on 12 September 2022 and the first advertisements, for vacancies, were published recently.
This means that Applicants can now apply Online.
An added benefit is that the Municipality can now start building an online candidate database for future employment purposes as well as review and track employment metrics. This will help to optimise employment processes and assist to make faster and better decisions.
The Municipality will save time spent posting, publishing, and sorting the applications, notes, and communications.
The JAP is easy to use and convenient for all applicants and of course, with technology, we are moving with the times.

The Overstrand is participating in the Great Southern Bioblitz (GSB) for the second time this year from 28 - 31 October 2022.
This is an international period of biological surveying by the public in an attempt to record all the living species across the Southern Hemisphere in spring.
What is the purpose of the Bioblitz?
According to Councillor Clinton Lerm, Mayoral Committee Member of Investment & Infrastructure, the purpose of the Bioblitz is to list all the species that occur in the Southern Hemisphere in spring on iNaturalist.org. “We want to share our fantastic biodiversity with the world, and with your help your data becomes part of our collective knowledge of what occurs here and where, and can be useful to scientists in many ways,” he said.
Overstrand Municipality walked away proud and immensely motivated after being awarded as winners of the 2022 Municipal Green Economy Change Champions Competition for significant upgrades to the water and wastewater treatment facilities.
GreenCape and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF) bestowed the green economy innovation awards during an online event on 12 October 2022 in recognition of municipality’s ability to apply innovative and sustainable green technologies that improve service delivery.
“There are many extraordinarily innovative sustainable municipal initiatives that are not adequately spoken about, shared or celebrated. These projects are implemented in complex environments, with numerous challenges, and often have strong replication potential,” said Cecelia Kok, head of research and advocacy projects, South Africa.
